Jun 3, 2020travel

Updated 22 February, 2021

Visitors travelling from the UK and a number of other countries require a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel to enter Montenegro. The list of countries subject to this requirement currently includes: the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Israel, Malta, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, the United States, Brazil, South Africa, India, Bahrain, Lebanon. Montenegrin citizens and holders of Montenegrin residence permits travelling from these countries can enter Montenegro without such a test but will be required to self-isolate or quarantine for 14 days.

People travelling from elsewhere, including UK citizens, can enter Montenegro without a coronavirus test through all border crossings.

This information was sourced from the UK Government website and was correct at the time of updating this post.

Check the current regulations for travel into Montenegro and latest COVID restrictions within the country on the Montenegrin Government website.

Note that you may need to use google translate as the website is in Montenegrin.

What does this mean for travel from UK to Montenegro?

Check the current Government regulations on travel in and out of UK that are in place at the moment. (These override the notes below at the time of updating).

UK residents may enter Montenegro with a negative COVID test (at the time of updating).  However Montenegro is not currently included on the UK travel corridors list so anyone returning from Montenegro to UK will have to quarantine for 10 days.

Check the UK Government website for the latest regulations.

However, if you live in England, you have the option to participate in the Test to Release for International Travel scheme from 15 December 2020.  This scheme means you can pay to take a private Covid test on the 5th day after your return and if this is negative, you no longer have to self-isolate.

If you want to receive an alert email every time the travel corridor list has been updated, you can sign up on the UK Government website.
